Fragile.[ˈfrædʒaɪl]:

Collaboration with Minchae Kim, Lara Mi.

Reprojected Meanwhile(2018),performance video(21mins 51sec).

The exhibition is to explore the boundary of objects of art. In other words, the exhibition is designed to investigate possibilities from process to outcome for being the artwork. In the same point of view, the title '[ˈfrædʒaɪl]' written in English phonetic symbols also represents the purpose of the exhibition.

It means that the artists tried to face its own English phonetic symbols as the values of art by apart from the meaning of the word. Accordingly, in this project, the artists question the perception of material and the extended boundary of arts through introducing the artworks providing the contextual outcomes continuously within the offered time and spatiality. As a result, the artworks stimulate the audiences' perception within the range of interactions and roles in the project.

This work has been displayed in two different galleries. According to the different titles, it has been located in different places (latitude, longitude) and on different dates. By encountering different environments and conditions, the ice took different times to melt. Consequently, the physical materials composing the object and ways of display are the same, but the audience has contemplated completely different results.

Morse code is a character encoding scheme used in telecommunication (wikipedia). Generally, Morse code is used based on the auditorial system. This means it operates through the invisible communication network. I translated a part of the text 'Real-time system' by Jack Burnham to Morse code. 'Realtime system' deals with art systems in the 1960s focusing on art events and experiences emerging in the interactions with outside information in real time.

By being hung from the ceiling and made by the light paper, it (the artwork) reacts sensitively to its surrounding conditions (the given information) such as the air flow from the audience movements. This work is in progress to be developed as sound arts.
