Resonance. Video installation
Duration 2mins 21sec-continous loop
'Resonance’ deals with ‘selective perception’, which is a perceptual error. It especially relates to selective perception in synesthesia emerging between artworks and audiences. Generally, a human perceives new objects and learns novel information using all five senses. This means that the five interwoven forms of sensory information is memorized by perceiving the objects and information. However, selective perception occurring at the same time interrupts perceiving objects and information correctly.
'Resonance' uses the sensorial bridge between sight and hearing. Subsequently, when the audience watches images of pouring water in the video, they must imagine the sound of water. However, because of the inserted glithes between the sounds and images of videos and editting methodologies for emerging 'selective perception', they would remember the videos, including water images and sounds, without any issues.
